Photographed January 4, 2019 in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains.
Sharp, angular frost crystals can resemble snowflakes when conditions are just right. This crystal formed after a night of below zero temperatures and the right amount of humidity. It was photographed on a vehicle windshield. The specks in the background are tiny ice particles.
